Elijah: Mighty in Prayer (1 Kings 17:8-24)

Elijah provides many lessons on prayer for today.

Each of us must face self-doubts. There is much about prayer that no one understands. To claim to have all the answers is to be dishonest with oneself and with others. Since no one knows all there is to be known about prayer, we have much to learn, and growing in knowledge requires self-discipline. It is not easy.

Elijah challenges each individual and each church to pray more. It is much easier to read and talk about prayer than it is to do it.

We should have a planned prayer program or schedule. Churches should devise a prayer program that will involve the membership in all kinds of prayer. Individuals should plan a time and place for praying and have a definite prayer list for guidelines.
